Local 25 Journeyperson Night School

Important Information
1. Local No. 25 night classes are
open to all Journeypersons on a first come basis. Class sizes are
limited, anyone interested in a particular class should mail in their
check/money order along with the "green" course selection sheet
immediately.
2. All night classes and seminars start at 5:00 PM and
end at 8:30 PM, there is a 15 minute break from 6:45 PM to 7:00 PM.
3. The tuition for all night classes is $50.00, tuition
for seminars is $20.00. All tuitions must be paid by check/money order
made payable to the SMWIA Local No. 25 Ed Fund and mailed to the JATC by
August 31, 2007.
4. Several classes/seminars will require that you
purchase an ITI calculator from the JATC Local 25. Please arrive to your
first class with a check/money order prepared to purchase a calculator.
5. Please use the calendar to determine your first day
of class and class nights.
Course Descriptions
DRAFTING 2– Manual Drafting Course
72 hour course, 2 nights per week held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This
is the second part of our pencil drafting class, which covers blueprint
reading, field measuring and producing complete sheet metal shop
drawings from plans and specifications. In order to be eligible this
course you must have completed D-1 or have Drafting experience.
TAB – Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Course
90 hour course, usually 1 night per week held on Wednesdays with a
couple Mondays thrown in as well. This class covers the basics of
Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of heating, ventilating and air
conditioning systems for air. Also covers, hand tools, instrumentation,
data collecting and theories/concepts of air movement.
SERVICE 1 – Level 1 HVAC Service Course
60 hour course, 2 nights per week, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This
course will cover areas of work performed, working conditions,
technician’s responsibilities, hand tools, instrumentation, and data
collecting and will prepare you for the Service 2 class. Also, theories
and concepts of HVAC & Refrigeration will be covered.
ADVANCED WELD – Welding Course
120 hour course, 2 nights per week held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Our
welding school is an AWS certified testing facility. We cover STICK, MIG
& TIG welding, Oxy/Acetylene & Plasma Cutting. This course will prepare
you for Welding Certification at the end of the course. We are also
accepting Welders to sign up just for the Certification Examination.
FOREPERSON/PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE
32 hour course, 1 night per week on Wednesdays. This course will cover
the responsibilities of being a Foreperson and Project Manager in
addition to planning, contract dwgs, spec’s, manufacturer’s submittal
data, project schedules, meetings, change orders, dealing with
customers/owners/engineers, management of manpower, and controlling
costs.
S & D – Siding and Decking
21 hour course, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This course covers the
blueprint reading, installation, erection, maintenance and fabrication
of Sheet Metal Siding and Decking. The course is taught using a full
size mock-up that is built in the parking lot.
FIRE LIFE SAFETY – Level 1 Technician
12 hour course for a total of 3 nights. This course will cover correct
procedures of installation, maintenance, terminology and symbols.
Successful completion of this class comes with a certification as a Fire
Life Safety Technician Level 1.
OSHA 30 - Government Standards Construction Safety Seminar
30 hour seminar covered over 8 nights, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This
seminar will teach you about the Occupational Safety Health Act, the
standards for general industry construction and employee and employer
responsibilities as they relate to job site safety. OSHA-30
Certification Card included with completion of this class.
